Our cuvée of the month for July comes from Champagne Jacquesson, a Négociant-Manipulant located in the Premier Cru village of Dizy in the eastern Vallée de la Marne.
This top quality domaine controls 30 hectares of vineyards in Dizy, Aÿ, Hautvillers and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ in the Vallée de la Marne as well as plots in the Côte des Blancs at Avize and Oiry.
For the past 20 years, the house ethos has been one of meticulous tradition with every step focused on achieving the highest quality attainable whilst ensuring each plot retains its individuality. Viticulture is kept as natural as possible and yields are strictly controlled.
The Dizy Terres Rouges Récolte 2007 is a Rosé de Noirs consisting of 100% Pinot Noir. As the name suggests, this cuvée is born from the 2007 harvest with just 7,320 bottles being produced. The Pinot Noir stock was planted in 1993 on shallow, east facing slopes with a chalky-silt soil base. The wine is vinified in oak casks and on its lees. The slow maceration process takes place with de-stemmed grapes. Dosage is a 3.5g/l, our bottle being disgorged 28th March 2012.
The result is a vibrant ruby colour with a slow and fine mousse, rich with caramelised red fruits. It is quite simply a superb wine from a fabulous domaine.
