Our “Champagne of the Month” for April 2015 is the Cuvée Largillier Brut Nature from Champagne Jérôme Coessens, based in the village of Fouchères in the Côte des Bar.
With just four parcels of old vines representing six and a half hectares based in clay-limestone soil typical to that in Chablis, Champagne Coessens produces an excellent range of cuvees in a Burgundian style.
Vinified in stainless steel tanks, the Cuvée Largillier Brut Nature is born from the Lieu-dit “Largillier”. It is 100% Pinot Noir, old vines, the wine coming from the 2009 harvest and there is no dosage.
A beautiful, soft amber colour, this wine oozes class and character; rich and expressive with hints of minerals, toasted brioche, blackberries and fruit compote.
A gorgeous wine!
