Our cuvée of the month for July 2015 comes from a Champagne Franck Bonville, a Récoltant-Manipulant located in the village of Avize on the Côte des Blancs.
Olivier Bonville has 20 hectares at his disposal, 15 of which lie in Avize, a small plot in Cramant plus some plots on the slopes of Oger which have old vine stock. The plots are farmed “lute raisonnée” – predominantly organic.
Cuvée “Les Belles Voyes” is the only wine Olivier vinifies in wood. The Chardonnay grapes come from a single plot of vines that are over 100 years old and these lie on an east facing slope in Oger. This combination produces an incredibly rich and aromatic champagne, deep golden in colour with hints of vanilla, peaches and apricot; the dosage is around 5gl. We adore the strength and full-bodied complexity of this wonderful wine.
